Let There Be Peace On Earth...

"Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that peace."
Martin Luther King Jr.
MLK Jr. reminds us that peace is not only the destination, it is the path that take us there.
The group intention for July 4th is: Our intention is that Iran, Israel and the U.S. permanently maintain the ceasefire agreement - that peaceful relations stabilize - and we all live in peace and unity.
When we sit with this intention for 10 minutes, we each move closer to our own peace.
Lynne McTaggart has called it the Mirror Effect. She writes, " But the most powerful effect of group intention, is that participants experience a profound state of oneness, and that it reflects back on the intenders themselves. After participating in peace Intention Experiments, the participants' lives become more peaceful and loving, and in about a third of cases, they themselves get healed."
And having been a part of many many intention circles over the past seven years, I know that to be true. I've seen people arrive at a circle completely frazzled from their day. One person went as far as to say she hated her life and didn't know why she bothered coming. Then she left a little early to get to an appointment on time. She called me later to tell me that she had left the circle in a calm state and that every traffic light turned green as she was approaching it and she arrived at her appointment cool, calm and collected.
I also know something else to be deeply true: No matter the circumstances, we each have the capacity to know peace.
There is a part of us — ever-present and unshaken — that is at peace right now, regardless of what we are experiencing or what surrounds us. It knows only peace. It has only ever known peace. Its peace is imperturbable.
This aspect of us knows its Oneness with God. And it is never far — just a breath away. Just a thought, a feeling, a gentle turning of attention.
Each time we return our awareness to it, it draws nearer, until it fully reveals itself as our True Self.
That’s how powerful our intention circles are. When we come together consistently — sitting in Presence, in the awareness of our Oneness — something beautiful happens.
We begin to truly know our True Self. And with that knowing comes a deep, unshakable peace —what the New Testament calls “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.”
